CISM Athlete of the Year 2025: Online voting is now open
BRUSSELS (BEL) - The International Military Sports Council (CISM) is pleased to announce that the online voting platform for the CISM Athlete of the Year 2025 Award is now live on the CISM website.
Members of the CISM community and the wider public are invited to cast their vote and support the outstanding male and female military athletes who distinguished themselves throughout the 2025 competition season.
The CISM Athlete of the Year Award aims to recognize and honor the most remarkable sporting performances achieved during the CISM World Military Championships and CISM Military World Games. Beyond results alone, the selection process places strong emphasis on the core values of CISM, including fair play, discipline, respect for the rules, personal conduct, and the ability to act as an ambassador of military sport.
In accordance with Article 6.10 of the CISM Regulations, the General Secretariat received 22 official nominations submitted by the CISM Sport Committees of Category A sports that organized a World Military Championship in 2025.
The evaluation period covers the entire CISM championships calendar year, from 1 January to 31 December 2025, ensuring a comprehensive and fair assessment of each nominee’s sporting achievements and contribution to the visibility of military sport.
The selection process is structured in several key phases:

Online voting on the CISM website from 20 December 2025 to 13 February 2026 (midnight, Belgian time)

Selection Commission review from 15 to 17 February 2026

Approval by the CISM Board of Directors from 18 to 22 February 2026

Official award ceremony during the 81st CISM General Assembly and Congress, to be held in Monaco from 1 to 9 May 2026
During the online voting phase, the public will select three female and three male athlete. Following this, the Selection Commission will examine the top candidates and propose one athlete per gender for final approval by the Board of Directors.
The nominated athletes represent a broad spectrum of CISM disciplines that held a World Military Championship in 2025, reflecting the diversity and excellence of military sport worldwide. The nominations cover sports such as archery, cycling, equestrian, golf, judo, modern pentathlon, naval pentathlon, parachuting, shooting, track and field, and wrestling, as officially submitted by the respective Sport Committees
Each nominee embodies the spirit of CISM and the values that unite armed forces through sport across all continents.
