2nd Military Challenge Rugby 7’s kicks off in Amsterdam with a day of thrilling matches


Day 1 & 2 (18)


AMSTERDAM (NED) - The 2nd Military Challenge Rugby 7’s commenced with great enthusiasm and fierce competition from June 1 to June 7, 2024, in the vibrant city of Amsterdam. This prestigious event features top rugby sevens teams from five nations: Korea, France, Ireland, Netherlands, and the USA, competing in both male and female categories.


The championship was officially opened on June 3 by Brigadeer General Jobse during the Opening Ceremony. Following the ceremony, teams enjoyed a cultural day in Amsterdam and participated in their first training sessions, setting the stage for a week of high-level rugby competition.


Day 1 & 2 (13)


Day 1 of the competition, held on June 4, saw some intense and exhilarating matches that set the stage for what promises to be an unforgettable tournament.


CISM Military Challenge Rugby Men's Event: 


  • France vs Ireland: The French team delivered a powerful performance, overwhelming Ireland with a remarkable 62-0 victory. Demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork, France dominated the game from start to finish, leaving Ireland struggling to gain any foothold in the match.


  • USA vs South Korea: The USA showcased their skills with a solid 24-5 win against South Korea, asserting their dominance early in the competition. The American team’s strategic play and physical prowess were too much for South Korea, who managed to score only once against the formidable USA defense.


Day 1 & 2 (21)


  • Netherlands vs France: France continued their winning streak by defeating the host nation, Netherlands, with a convincing 43-0 scoreline. The French team’s relentless offense and airtight defense left the Dutch team unable to score, highlighting France’s strong bid for the championship.


  • Ireland vs USA: The USA team demonstrated their strength again, securing a 40-7 victory over Ireland. With a combination of speed, agility, and tactical acumen, the American side controlled the game, leaving Ireland with limited opportunities to challenge their lead.


Day 1 & 2 (2)


  • South Korea vs Netherlands: South Korea rebounded with a commanding 49-12 win against the Netherlands, showcasing their resilience and determination. The South Korean team, having learned from their earlier match, displayed a powerful offense and solid defense to secure a decisive victory.


CISM Military Challenge Rugby (Women)


  • France vs Ireland: The French women's team mirrored their male counterparts with a dominant 38-0 win against Ireland. France's cohesive play and strategic brilliance were evident as they controlled the game, preventing Ireland from scoring.


  • USA vs Netherlands: The USA women started strong with a 20-7 victory over the Netherlands. The American team's athleticism and coordinated efforts on the field were key factors in their win.


Day 1 & 2 (6)


  • Netherlands vs Ireland: In a closely contested match, Ireland edged out the Netherlands with a 22-15 victory. Both teams showed great skill and determination, but Ireland managed to secure the win with a late surge.


  • USA vs France: France continued their impressive form, defeating the USA 40-12 in a highly competitive match. The French team's superior strategy and execution were evident as they outplayed the USA in a thrilling encounter.


Day 1 & 2 (3)
