Exciting start to the 3rd CISM World Military Basketball 3x3 Championship in Novi Sad

NOVI SAD (SRB) - The 3rd CISM World Military Basketball 3x3 Championship kicked off in high gear on June 19, 2024, with intense matches setting the stage for a thrilling competition. Held in the picturesque city of Novi Sad, the event brings together military basketball teams from around the world to compete for top honors. The championship runs from June 18 to June 21, 2024.

 

Men’s Competition

 

Pool A Highlights: Serbia began their tournament with a strong showing, achieving victories over the Netherlands with a score of 18-12 and Armenia with 21-14. Despite a narrow 20-21 defeat to Cyprus in a tightly contested match, Serbia's overall performance was sufficient to secure the top position in their pool. Cyprus closely trailed Serbia, with wins against Armenia (18-16) and the Netherlands (21-11). Although they narrowly lost to Serbia with a score of 20-21, Cyprus's solid play earned them a strong standing in the pool.

 

Armenia managed to secure a win against the Netherlands, finishing 18-15. This victory placed them third in the pool standings. The Netherlands, however, struggled throughout the day and finished without any wins.

Pool B Highlights: France edged past Morocco (21-20) and dominated Bosnia & Herzegovina (21-13), emerging as the leaders of their pool. Morocco secured a win over Bosnia & Herzegovina (22-19) but fell to France.

Bosnia & Herzegovina ended the day without a win, placing last in their pool.

 

Pool B Standings:

  1. France
  2. Morocco
  3. Bosnia & Herzegovina

 

Pool C Highlights: Germany showed a commanding presence, defeating Slovenia (21-14) and Montenegro (21-8). Slovenia managed a win against Montenegro (19-16), securing the second spot. Montenegro finished the day with two losses.

  1. Germany
  2. Slovenia
  3. Montenegro

 

 

Pool D Highlights: Korea dominated their games, beating Canada (21-8), China (21-8), and Bulgaria (21-12), securing the top position in their pool. Canada performed well against Bulgaria (21-4) and narrowly won against China (21-19), placing them second. China secured a win over Bulgaria (21-9). Bulgaria ended the day without a victory.

  4. Bulgaria

 

Women’s Competition

 

Pool A Highlights: Netherlands defeated Serbia (18-14), securing the top spot in the pool. Serbia placed second following their loss to the Netherlands.

Pool B Highlights: Germany won against North Macedonia (15-11), leading their pool.

  2. North Macedonia

 

 

Pool C Highlights: France dominated both Tanzania (22-4) and Bosnia & Herzegovina (21-4), securing the top position. Bosnia & Herzegovina narrowly defeated Tanzania (19-18).

  2. Bosnia & Herzegovina
  3. Tanzania

 

Pool D Highlights: Belgium narrowly won against Canada (15-14) and decisively against Bulgaria (17-3), leading the pool. Canada secured a win against Bulgaria (16-9).

  3. Bulgaria
