One of the facts that made the 1st CISM Winter Military World Games a big success was, undoubtedly, the number of countries present at the event. During 8 days, 43 country-flags flew in the fields of the Aosta Valley – Italy, representing more than 800 athletes and demonstrating the high interest of the military athletes in winter sports. Taking into consideration that this was the first edition of the CISM Winter Military World Games, these figures were a great achievement for the CISM family. Athletes competed in several sports: Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Cross-Country, Indoor Climbing, Short Trak and Ski Orienteering.
