KOPER (SLO) - The 2nd World Military Climbing Championship began with a grand opening ceremony held in Koper, Slovenia. The event was organized by the Slovenian Armed Forces under the auspices of CISM (International Military Sports Council). The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Major Jan-Henrik Back, Minister of Defense of Slovenia Marjan Šarec, and other national and international authorities. The Minister emphasized the importance of physical fitness for the armed forces and highlighted the values of sportsmanship and cooperation.

The competition days 1 and 2 featured the finals of speed climbing in both male and female categories, along with qualifying rounds for bouldering. Patrycja Chudziak from Poland and Kostiantyn Pavlenko from Ukraine emerged as the world champions in speed climbing. On the competition day 3, lead climbing and bouldering finals took place. Mia Krampl from Slovenia claimed the titles of world champion in female lead climbing while Sascha Lehmann from Switzerland emerged as the male world champion. Janja Garnbret became the world champion in the female bouldering category as did France's Mickael Mawemi, winner of the men's bouldering competition.

The 2nd WMC Climbing concluded with a closing ceremony at the Janko Premrl Vojko Barracks in Vipava, Slovenia. Major General Robert Glavaš, the Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and commending the competitors for their performances. The lead climbing and bouldering finals on the last day resulted in victories for Slovenian climbers Mia Krampl and Vita Lukan in the female category, and Mickael Mawem from France in the male category.


Overall, the championship showcased the exceptional abilities of climbers from various nations across the three disciplines of sport climbing and promoted camaraderie among military forces through sports.
